Recovery is a personal process of finding hope, making choices and living a meaningful and satisfying life beyond mental illness.
Partners in Recovery uses a recovery model approach to mental illness which puts the participant at the centre. Recovery is seen as a journey determined by an individual, not merely an outcome or cure. Recovery may include many things such as finding hope, gaining a better understanding of a person’s abilities and challenges, and helping participants to determine goals to live a satisfying life with meaning and purpose.
The recovery approach empowers people to decide what recovery means for them as an individual and to ensure mental health services are delivered in a way to support the person’s recovery.
